Every Amazon seller is familiar with one of the top frightening things on the platform, bad product reviews. This little comment can determine your Amazon future, mainly if your product was just listed.
Eventually, every product will get bad reviews as long as it sells, so what can we do? In the following blog post, I will describe how you can get out of the situation with your hands on top.
1. Respond publicly to a Negative Review
Commenting is easy.
When commenting back, you can address the following topics:
- Give your point of view on an issue.
- Inform the customer about what you did to fix the situation or product problem and why it won’t happen again
- Show that you care about your customer’s shopping experience and provide excellent customer service.
- Ask a customer to contact you via Buyer-Seller Messaging so that you can help them solve their problem.
Do not offer your email address or another way to reach you privately. Inviting customers to contact you outside of the Amazon platform is against Amazon’s terms of use; your comment will probably be deleted or not published.
Here are two advantages of replying to a review:
- The review remains the same, but the negative impact is redundant as you provide additional information to other customers.
- The customer improved the review because you provided good customer service and helped them solve their problem. However, do not ask the customer to edit the review.
2. Delete it: How to delete a bad review on Amazon
Amazon may withdraw a product review if it doesn’t meet the Amazon guidelines, But you should consider that the likelihood of Amazon removing a review is low. An unfair review is not eligible to be removed.
You can report a bad product comment to Amazon with just a few clicks or by sending an email. Go to your product’s page, scroll to the negative comment and click “Report Abuse.” Increase your chances of success by detailing how the user is violating Amazon review guidelines.
Don’t be tempted to bulk flag all of your negative comments to see how many will be removed — that won’t work, and this practice can hurt your internal reputation and seller rating with Amazon.
Report a review only if its content violates Amazon’s Community Guidelines.
Reviews worth reporting
- Any comment mentioning the seller and not the product
- Any comment with personal information such as phone number, email, and address.
- Comments on pricing, availability or other ordering options are not permitted.
- Hate speech, harassing or threatening
- Sexually content
- Copy-paste comments from other products listings.
- URLs included
- A comment that a direct competitor has written
- Several negative comments from the same customer for the same product.
